Welcome To Pack 275!

Adventure. Learning. Service. Fun…Are you ready?

Cub Scout Pack 275, located in Franklin, Tennessee, is comprised of approximately 50 boys and their families. Through outdoor experiences, community service projects, and age-appropriate rank achievements, our Scouts have fun and learn lifelong values and skills.

Pack 275 is currently registering boys from 1st through 5th grade to become Cub Scouts for the Fall & 2023-24 school year!

A Message from the Cubmaster

As the Cubmaster of Pack 275 and the parent of a second-year Cub Scout, I would like to welcome you to the journey of fun, adventure, and learning that you and your son will undoubtedly experience together.

The camaraderie and enthusiasm in our pack is incredible! Every scouting adventure, every learning moment, and every laughter-filled meeting is a testament to the amazing community that Pack 275 has become. As I’ve watched my own child grow, it’s become clear to me that scouting offers so much more than just outdoor adventures—it offers a whole world of life lessons.

In our increasingly digital world, one of the key benefits of Cub Scouting is its ability to help our children reconnect with the outdoors. It encourages in them a sense of exploration and discovery, as they learn valuable lessons. Camping, hiking, and survival skills are not just exciting activities, but also vital life skills that will stay with them forever.

Yet, scouting is not just about wilderness survival. It also nurtures well-rounded individuals, building their character and leadership skills. Our pack encourages the boys to work as a team, solve problems together, and make ethical choices. They learn the value of service, as they participate in community projects, instilling a sense of civic duty.

Pack 275 is not just a group of scouts; we’re a family. We laugh together, we learn together, and we lend a helping hand to one another. Seeing our children learn the values of responsibility, respect, and courage brings a sense of fulfillment that is hard to express in words.

For every parent considering Cub Scouting for their children, I promise you this: the joy of watching your child’s face light up as they earn their first badge, the pride when they help others, and the excitement as they narrate their first camping tales is unmatched. It’s not just your child who will be part of the pack, but you too. We grow together, we bond together, and we create lifetime memories.

Here’s to a year filled with laughter, learning, and love for the great outdoors. Welcome, Pack 275! Let’s make this another great year!

Yours In Scouting,

What is a Pack vs. a Den

Dens at Pack 275 are broken down according to grade:

Tiger => 1st Grade

Wolf => 2nd Grade

Bear => 3rd Grade

Webelos => 4th Grade

Important! Your son is welcome to join the adventure of Scouting at any time. For example, if you have an interested 3rd grader, he can join the Bear Den right away and begin to work on that rank.

Den meetings usually take place once a month and are led by the respective Den Leader. Scouts are led through adventures (each adventure is described in the Scout Handbook) each of which gets them a little closer to advancement. Each adventure helps to develop the skills and character traits that coincide with the points of the Scout Law:

The Scout Law

  1. Trustworthy
  2. Loyal
  3. Helpful
  4. Friendly
  5. Courteous
  6. Kind
  7. Obedient
  8. Cheerful
  9. Thrifty
  10. Brave
  11. Clean
  12. Reverent

For a Den to function properly, it needs an Assistant Den Leader too. So, as you can see there are plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved.

When we put all the dens together we get “The Pack.” The Pack meets once per month, and it’s an opportunity for scouts to do the following: receive awards, work on advancement, play games, and demonstrate teamwork. It also gives leadership a chance to talk directly to both scouts and parents. And speaking of parents, Pack meetings are a great place for parents to get to know each other.

Dens

A small group of Cub Scouts who are the same gender and in the same grade.  The ideal size is 6 to 8 Cub Scouts.

Den Leaders

An adult, usually a parent, serves as a Den Leader. They carry out the activities related to adventures as they are presented in the Cub Scout’s handbook and the Den Leader Guide.

Pack

The pack is all the dens put together and each pack is identified by a number. There are three essential leadership roles that must be filled in order to maintain a charter: Cubmaster, Committee Chair, and Treasurer. Pack 275 is chartered by the Franklin Rotary.

Cubmaster

The leader of the pack meeting is the Cubmaster.  In addition to serving as the master of ceremonies the Cubmaster provides support to Den Leaders.
